Virgil van Dijk has delivered an emotional tribute to Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson as the pair prepare to play their final game for Liverpool this weekend.
In an interview with the club’s official website, the Liverpool captain described both players as “legends” who have left an indelible mark on the club during their nine years at Anfield.
On Andy Robertson, Van Dijk said:“For me personally, it’s been a joy to have him on my left-hand side.
“He is one of, if not the best left-back of the last decade for sure in the Premier League and definitely in contention as one of the best left-backs of Liverpool.
“It’s all down to him, his hard work, his quality, his drive.”
Speaking about Mohamed Salah, the skipper added:“I think it’s absolutely incredible… the numbers Mo has achieved on a consistent basis.
“Mo has been such a big part of that as well. They will be forever remembered. It’s been an absolute pleasure.”
Van Dijk also highlighted how both players have inspired the next generation at the club and will be written into Liverpool’s history books forever.
The tributes come ahead of Sunday’s final Premier League match of the season against Brentford at Anfield, which is expected to be an emotional day as Salah and Robertson bid farewell to the Liverpool faithful.
