Liverpool have received a massive fitness boost ahead of their crucial Premier League finale against Brentford. Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that goalkeeper Alisson Becker is on the verge of returning to action following a two-month layoff with a hamstring injury.
Ancelotti included the 33-year-old shot-stopper in Brazil’s 26-man World Cup squad and expressed absolute confidence in his recovery. “Alisson is returning from injury but has been training for two weeks,” Ancelotti told journalists at a presser. “He is doing normally, he is well, and I believe he will play the next game.”
The news provides a timely lift for the Reds, who are desperate to secure Champions League qualification.
Alisson has endured an injury-plagued campaign, recording 8 clean sheets in 25 Premier League appearances this season while conceding 30 games.
