BREAKING: Labaron Philon Withdraws from NBA Draft, Returning to Alabama for Sophomore Season
Alabama guard Labaron Philon has officially withdrawn from the 2025 NBA Draft and will return to the Crimson Tide for his sophomore season. The announcement comes just ahead of the NCAA’s draft withdrawal deadline, giving Alabama a major boost for next season.
Philon had previously signaled his intention to stay in the draft but reversed course after receiving feedback from NBA teams. In a statement, he said the draft process was a valuable experience and that he’s excited to come back and continue developing his game.
As a freshman, Philon averaged 10.6 points, 3.8 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game, earning a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team. With the departure of veteran guard Mark Sears, Philon’s return adds stability and leadership to Alabama’s backcourt.
His decision is a huge win for head coach Nate Oats and the Crimson Tide, who now have one of the most dynamic young guards in the SEC back for another run.
