BLOOMINGTON — Indiana added helpful frontcourt depth Tuesday, when North Florida transfer Josh Harris announced his commitment to the Hoosiers.
Harris becomes the second North Florida player to transfer to IU this offseason, following wing Jasai Miles. Harris announced his decision through On3.

Listed at 6 foot 8, 210 pounds, Harris profiles as an out-and-out center, based on his one season in Jacksonville.
The Florida native played in 28 games last season for the Ospreys as a freshman, posting encouraging rebounding, shot-blocking and finishing numbers. His fouls-per-40 averages need trimmed, but the rest of Harris’ rim-to-rim profile is encouraging.
So, too, is his eligibility status. Harris just completed his freshman season, meaning he has three years remaining at this level. While Darian DeVries has understandably centered his roster-building efforts on more experienced players, he will need some continuity beyond next season and Harris helps assure that.

He will likely compete with Florida transfer Sam Alexis and Davidson transfer Reed Bailey for minutes in the post. Harris’ commitment takes Indiana to 11 committed scholarships (out of 13) for next season. Luke Goode continues seeking a waiver for a fifth season, and could claim a 12th if he receives one.
