He went on to describe the roots of the feud, tracing it back to creative differences during the filming of The Fate of the Furious in 2016. “We were both trying to protect the franchise, but we had different visions of leadership. I approached it as a producer, trying to keep the family vibe alive. Dwayne came in with the energy of a global icon and a different approach to work. Somewhere in that mix, things just… exploded.”
“We’re Not Enemies. We’re Brothers Who Fought”
One of the most unexpected moments in the interview came when Diesel admitted he still holds a deep respect for Johnson.
“I never hated Dwayne. I think we both said things we didn’t mean, or maybe we meant them too much. But hate? Nah. We’re not enemies. We’re brothers who fought — and maybe that’s why it hurt so much.”
The two stars reportedly did not film their scenes together in The Fate of the Furious, adding fuel to the fire. Johnson famously posted on Instagram about “candy asses” in Hollywood, a jab that many interpreted as being directed at Diesel. But now, the xXx star says he’s ready to leave that all behind.
